To relieve suffering and acute poverty among families unable to access international aid because of their former links with western powers and the former Afghan government (pre August 2021)
The objects formally agreed with the Charity Commission enshrined in our constitution are:
For the public benefit, the relief of beneficiaries living in Afghanistan who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress, in particular by making grants of money. In this clause, “beneficiaries” means people who are being persecuted and prevented from accessing existing channels of humanitarian aid as a result of their, or a member of their family:
(a) having a previous working relationship with UK or NATO bodies; or
(b) having worked with human rights organisations operating in Afghanistan; or
(c) having worked in the Afghan National Army or for the Afghan Government prior to 15 August 2021.
Support for 18 such families connected mainly to Afghan refugees who had settled in West Sussex began early in 2022. Funds ran out at the end of that year and for 12 months support has been intermittent. In some families there have been deaths from injuries, general poverty and ill-health in that time. One family has been helped to leave Afghanistan and is now in the UK.
